To provide a platform where the community can learn about and be part of the celebration of the fashion that has been part of the Caribbean Heritage,

Heritage Focus

Participants will examine heritage through two types of national wear: the Wob Dwiyet (Robe

Douillete) and the Jip. These are two contrasting styles of Caribbean dress have been developed from the use of the Madras fabric. With an intergenerational and international focus this project will examine the history of the creation the national wear and capture stories of the Windrush generation.

It will enable WISE to play a key role in preserving this aspect of Caribbean Heritage by educating a new generation and enabling their work to be showcased in a music, fashion and dance exhibition.
